Financial Aid & Awards

Student Loans, Bursaries, Grants, NVIT Assistance and Awards

Do you need help with your expenses during the school year? The Financial Aid Office has information and assistance for students on applying for government and NVIT administered awards, budgeting and money management, program and education costs, appealing government student loan decisions and sources of student aid.  If you need information on program costs, start/end dates, program eligibility and course loads information check with the Financial Aid Office at NVIT.

Who Can Help You?
NVIT's Financial Aid Coordinator coordinates and oversees office activities and can assist by directing you with the right form or advice.

Hours of Operation
8:30 am - 12:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
Note: Students are encouraged to email or leave a voice mail at 378-3334 as to their specific request if they cannot get to the office when it is open.

Financial Aid Terms:
1. Award: recognition of ability in the form of a bursary, grant, loan, prize or scholarship.
2. Bursary: a non-repayable award made to a qualifying student who has financial need based on pre-set criteria.
3. Grant: similar to bursary, also non-repayable.
4. Loan: a repayable award, with the terms specified in an agreement between the borrower and the lender, and borrowed by an eligible student who has financial need based on pre-set criteria.
5. Prize: a non-monetary award in recognition of outstanding achievement or contribution.
6. Scholarship: a non-repayable award made to an eligible student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement.

Fee Deferrals
In order to register, students who annot pay full fees and who have enough student loan approved to cover their fees, may be granted fee deferrals by the Financial Aid Office. This deferral is for FEES ONLY. Apply at the Financial Aid Office.
